Today, as promised, I show you the less kitch of Wat Phra Nang Sang temple that stands on the site of the final battle against Burmese invaders. The two heroines mentioned yesterday, are those who saved the island from enemy invasion. Two women. Like the caddies (and thank the friends who helped me with the solution to the enigma, Danilo first of all).
The reason why, explained me by golfers is trivial but one overwhelming truth.
In Thailand to be a caddie is considered a job, and as such is aimed at women. And just look around for yourself to confirm this version. Let's face it frankly. Here the men do a blessed heck of nothing. And when they do something akin the tragicomic.

Oggi, come promesso, vi faccio vedere la parte meno kitch del Wat Phra Nang Sang, il tempio che sorge nel luogo della battaglia definitiva contro gli invasori birmani. E, le due eroine menzionate ieri, sono coloro che salvarono l'isola dall'invasione nemica. Due donne appunto. Come le caddies (e ringrazio gli amici che hanno cercato con me la soluzione all'enigma, Danilo primo fra tutti), donne.
Il perché spiegatomi dai golfisti del luogo è banalissimo ma di una verità schiacciante. In Thailandia il fare il caddie è considerato un lavoro, e come tale viene destinato alle donne.
E basta guardarsi attorno per credere a questa versione.
Diciamocelo francamente. Qui gli uomini non fanno un beato cacchio di nulla. E quando fanno qualcosa rasentano le tragicomiche.

Wat Phra Nang Sang is the oldest temple in Phuket, dating back more than 200 years, and was built on the site of the famous battle in 1785 between the people of Phuket and the Burmese. A statue of Thao Thep Kassatri and Thao Sri Sunthon (known as Chan and Mook before the King gave them these names for their valiant defense of Phuket) lies in the temple grounds - a larger one can be seen at the so called Heroines Monument - a traffic circle on the main road between the airport and Phuket City.
Like all Buddhist temples the statues are calm and the dalona fresh. But not only. Here you will find war statues and typical rustic scenes worthy of more kitch of street theater.
The taste is an opinion. And there's no better place than a temple for realizing it. Today I show you the side kitch, tomorrow thefashion (or chic, just to say a folly).

Wat Phra Nang Sang è il più antico tempio di Phuket, risalente a più di 200 anni e fu costruito sul sito della famosa battaglia nel 1785 tra il popolo di Phuket e i birmani. Una statua di Thao Thep Kassatri e Thao Sri Sunthon (note come Chan e Mook, prima che il re le desse questi nomi per la loro coraggiosa difesa di Phuket) si trova nel giardino del tempio - uno più grande può essere visto alla omonima rotonda (Heroines Monument) sulla strada principale tra l'aeroporto e Phuket Town.
Come tutti i templi buddisti anche questo wat ha placide statue e freschi saloni. Ma non solo.
Qui si trovano statue guerraiole e tipiche scene agresti degne del più kitch dei teatrini rionali.
Il gusto è decisameente un'opinione. E non c'è posto migliore di un tempio per rendersene conto.
Oggi ve ne mostro il lato kitch, domani quello fashion (o chic, tanto per dire una stupidata).
