15th of February

Phuket. We went to the temple to say goodbye to our friend's mom. Sons and daughters will stay with the body (in an air con coffin) for 5 days before the cremation. They will offer food to visitors and keep incence burning. We brought some white flowers as tradition. But, why people bring forks and spoons instead? I still don't understand. As my Canadian friend says: Thai logic for us is a non-logic.

Phuket. Una nostra amica ha perso la mamma e siamo andati al tempio a salutarla. Ci rimarrà per 5 giorni coi figli a vegliarla giorno e notte, con cibo per tutti i visitatori e ovviamente riposa in una bara con aria condizionata. Poi verrà cremata.

Noi le abbiamo portato una classica corona di fiori bianchi, come si usa. Ma non capisco perché alcuni le abbiano offerto posate e affini (vedi foto). Mi sfugge. Bah, la logica Thai, come dice un mio amico canadese, è difficile da capire. É una non-logica secondo i nostri standard.

Phuket. Mentre l'Italia sbraca per Sanscemo, noi ci accontentiamo di passeggiare tra lagune e mangrovie (fantastiche anche per il Sup in caso di mareggiata).

Phuket. When is too hot to walk on the beach the lagoons are a beautiful place to enjoy shade and birds.

Phuket. Thais love signboards. Not only these ones outside the pubs. Last week I had to renewal my driving licences and to do that I had to follow a 20 minutes movie about the street regulations. One of the worst infraction is to steel signs. 5.000 Bahts fine, much more than driving in opposite way or being in 3 on a scooter without helmets. Boh!

Phuket. Quanto piacciono i cartelli ai Thai. Ma non solo questi decorativi ai pub. L'altra settimana ho dovuto rinnovare le patenti tailandesi e mi sono  sorbito 20 minuti di filmato sulle regole della viabilità. GRAVE REATO: rubare i cartelli stradali. Multa fino a 5.000 Baht. Molto più che andare contromano o in 3 in scooter senza casco. Mah!

Phuket. After days of evening rains finally the sunset is back. And here in Layan is first class!

Phuket. The Chalong temple festival, a huge amount of street food and vendors. Thais like it!

Phuket. Ho ho ho. As they say 'it never rains in February in Phuket'. Wow. Every day some monsoon feel. But is good, refreshing and greenish for the vegetation.

Phuket. E meno male che 'a febbraio non piove mai a Phuket'. Arridanghete! Scorci di monsoni ogni giorno. L'aria rinfresca e la vegetazione gongola. Non male.

2nd of February

Phuket. The weather is changing. In Italy a dry and hot winter. Here a summer with sparkle of monsoon. Something is changing.

Phuket. Il tempo atmosferico cambia dappertutto. In Italia caldo e siccità in inverno e qui sprazzi di monsone in estate. Un caso non è.

1st of February

Phuket. The winter training starts. Running on the beach at sunset time, fast enough to be back on the balcony with Grazia to enjoy the last sun's rays drinking a Singha on ice with cashewnuts. 

Phuket. Inizia ufficialmente il training invernale. Tassativamente al crepuscolo e sulla spiaggia. Che ritmo al km? Quello giusto per ritrovarmi con Grazia per una Singha con ghiaccio e cashewnuts in balcone godendoci il tramonto!

Phuket. Talad Yai market in Old Phuket town. Each time is a great experience: good local street food (real and cheap), handicrafts and music. The old sino-portuguese shop houses are now shops and fancy guest-houses.

Phujket. Talad Yai market nella città vecchia. Sempre piacevole tra street food (quello vero e a buonissimo mercato), artigiani e musica. Le case sono le vecchie shop house sino-portoghesi ora negozietti e guest houses molto chic.

Phuket. Dobbiamo dirglielo che Natale è passato e che gli addobbi fanno schifo? Li amo lo stesso questi tangheri della Honda. Il cambio di olio per il mio Click 125 cc costa 190 baht, cioè 5 euri tondi tondi. Come in Italia...
